Revolution Tower, a torsional building in Panama
Revolution Tower is an office building located in Panama City Rep of Panama, he has 52 floors and 243 meters to the tip of the obelisk architecture. It consists of 4 floors of basement parking, 2 lower floors are commercial and lobby the project, 8 floors of parking above and other offices. The main characteristic, as shown in the figure is thirty-two upper floors rotate about the central axis of the tower.
The main structure is reinforced concrete, consisting of a core shear walls and eight circular columns that form a circle centered about the axis of the building. These 8 columns are linked by reinforced concrete beams post-tensioned partially forming a circle, also centered about the axis of the building.
The basement floors are concrete and served to support partial basement walls during construction. The floors of parking and the first 4 offices, post-tensioned slabs are supported by columns. The rotating part of the building consists of post-tensioned concrete beams supporting a reinforced concrete slab 0.12m thick. These beams are radial with respect to the circumference of the circular floor beam, and are always in the same position, but varies from 0 to 5.5m in the cantilver changing length to form the effect of twisting the edge of the slab the facade, these radial beams do not change the position on the floors, simplifying formwork and construction. Finally the tip is structural steel. 70.2MPa concrete is used at 28 MPa for the columns, 28 MPa for reinforced and post-tensioned slabs. The building is designed and built according to the ACI318-2002, using intermediate frames and shear walls to withstand earthquakes of moderate magnitude, and winds of
